The Witches of the North Taxi Bus Tour

Meeting point will be Carrickfergus Castle car park
Or I can pick up from Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast at 11.15am (please let me know if you require this pick up and drop off when you book)
End point will be Carrickfergus Museum (just across the road from Carrickfergus Castle)
Join your qualified tour guide on our new unique themed taxi bus tour, where we will travel from the shadow of Carrickfergus castle, and around the mystical land of Islandmagee. We'll take an in depth look at the stories of the witches of the area, visit a haunted graveyard, the ruins where a famous author once resided, and the main areas involved with the infamous Islandmagee witches trial. Walk were they once did, and sample their punishment.
You'll also hear the stories of the other accused witches of the area; some of them well known, some of them...not so much!

On the day tour (3 hours) you will additionally have a guided tour of an old cottage with a fascinating past, a link to witchcraft, and of course, a few ghost stories. We will also be paying a visit to the Gobbins visitor centre, where you can have a look around at their history exhibit, their gift shop, and/or visit the lovely onsite cafe and have some refreshments (at your own expense) please view the menu here

​Recommended age 12 and over
3 hour day tour: Adult - £21 p.p. / Child (12-17) £19 p.p.
​2 hour evening tour: Adult - £16 p.p / Child (12-17) £14 p.p.

Toilets will be available along the route.

The tour will continue in all weathers, unless extreme. Please wear comfortable and weather appropriate clothing and footwear.
This tour will include walking on uneven ground, and you will need to be able to step up into, and out of the bus, though there is a step and grab handle provided. Not much walking will be required.

HOW TO GET HERE:
BY CAR - Firstly make sure you've fuel , or you won't make it!
Carrickfergus Castle should be easily found on google maps or sat navs. The full address is Carrickfergus Castle, Marine Highway, Carrickfergus, BT38 7BG
Failing that, if you follow signs to Carrickfergus, the entrance to the car park adjacent to the castle is just off the roundabout beside Sainsburys. If there are no spaces available in this car park, the are car parks further along the road. Turn left at the traffic lights to Joymount.
Parking fees may need to be paid in this car park. Please check.
​BY TRAIN - There is a train station in Carrickfergus, and it is only a 0.3 mile/
5 minute walk to our meeting place.
For Crumlin Road Gaol pick up, York train station is the closest, then a 20-30 min walk. Check translink.co.uk Or journeycheck.com.​
BY BUS - If you get off at the Joymount stop, then Carrickfergus Castle is just across the road. If you cannot see the castle, or the sea, you're facing the wrong way - turn around.
If going to Crumlin Road Gaol, there is a bus stopat Agnes Street and then a 7 minute walk, or Carlisle Circus stop (Antrim Road) and a 6 minute walk.
